DNA microinjection is the direct microinjection of a chosen gene (a single gene or a combination of genes) from another animal of the same species or a different species, into the pronuclear of a fertilized ovum.
Foreign DNA is introduced into the animal, and then must be transmitted through the germline so that every cell, including germ cells, of the animal, contains the same modified genetic material. So, it is basically a genetic transfer process. This process is accomplished by isolating and copying the genetic material of interest, generating a construct containing all the genetic elements for correct expression, and then inserting this construct into the host organism.
